Appearance
Elongated body, with a relatively long, narrow snout, and pointed. Head flattened and broad. Horizontal oval eyes. Barbels on throat. Mouth in front of eyes. No spiracles. Both dorsal fins of same size. Origin of first dorsal fin over free rear ends of pelvic fins. Origin of second dorsal fin above the midbase of anal fin.
Coloration
Six saddle marks on dorsal surface.
Distribution
Western North Pacific: Taiwan.
Biology
A little-known species of the insular shelf, lives down to a depth of about 110 m.
Diet
Unknown, but most likely invertebrates.
Size
Maximum length about 40 cm.
Reproduction
Possibly oviparous (egg laying).
Similar Species
Other species have a similar appearance and taxonomic features have to be used to clearly distinguish among them.
